Высевание непосредственно после сбора семян в мае - июне, как тополь. Размножение быстрорастущих сортов обрезками ветвей. Ветви срезают зимой, хранят в холодном вегетационном домике, в начале года ставят в воду на 24 часа и высаживают в открытые грядки. Размножение карликовых ив и мелколистных сортов верхушечными и обычными черенками, взятыми с начавших одревесневать побегов, в июле - августе. Черенки надрезают сбоку у основания. Размножение плакучих форм Ивы козьей (ракита,бредина) зимними прививками в верхнюю часть кроны на Salix vinimalis или Salix sericea.
